Grid data as CSV

GET

/api/numericalweather/grid/csv
Exports weather forecast data for multiple locations at once, in CSV format.
You choose a rectangular area (bounding box), a forecast time, a grid spacing, and
the weather parameters to return. Each grid point in the area is one row (or one
column, for the transposed format) in the CSV.

Example#

If you are planning a route across the North Atlantic, you may want wind speeds and
wave heights between 40°N and 42°N and between 50°W and 48°W, at 12:00 UTC on
15 January 2024, in a spreadsheet you can open in Excel:
{
  "Wind10mKnots": "Wind Speed (Knots)",
  "WindWaveHeightM": "Wave Height (Metres)"
}

Grid size#

The number of points depends on the bounding box and resolution. For example,
minLat=35, maxLat=45, minLon=-80, maxLon=-70 with resolution=1.0 returns an
11 × 11 grid (121 points). With seaOnly=true you may get fewer, because land points
are removed.

Limitations#

One forecast timestamp per request.
The area is always a rectangular bounding box. Custom shapes are not supported.
No aggregation. Summaries such as "average wave height in the region" must be
computed after download.
CSV only. JSON and NetCDF are not available from this endpoint.
Note: this is a GET request with a JSON body. Some HTTP clients and proxies
drop the body on GET requests. Use a client that sends it, such as cURL with
--request GET --data.

A CSV file. The layout depends on fileFormat. With 3, the first row is latitude,longitude followed by your column headings, then one row per grid point. With 4, the first column holds latitude, longitude and your column headings, and each further column is one grid point.
