What is in it#

Numerical Weather Prediction
Forecast values at a set of positions and times, or across an area as CSV: wind, waves, current, ice, atmosphere and ocean biogeochemistry.
Weather Parameters
The parameters you can request, what each one measures, and the unit it comes back in.

Where it runs#

We serve these endpoints from our numerical weather service, on its own host: point forecasts, grid exports and the parameter catalogue all sit under https://aviso-api.stratumfive.com/api/numericalweather/.
Weather is not on the Insights gateway yet
This category carries a StratumFive badge because we still run this service on StratumFive infrastructure. It takes a bearer token (1-hour expiry) where Insights takes an api-key header, and we will move it to the Insights scheme alongside the host migration. Weather Authentication covers the token exchange.

A first call#

Ask for three parameters at one position and time.
The response holds one coordinate per position you sent, each carrying the forecast values for the parameters you asked for
Send the whole route in one call
positionSet takes a list. Weather-routing a voyage means one call with every waypoint and its expected time, rather than one call per leg.
